The Turing Laboratory is deliberately small. The two of us together cover Math, Science, English, Chinese, and Programming, from Primary 1 through Junior College. We share notes, we share a method, and we share the responsibility of each student's progress.
Allen founded The Turing Laboratory in 2026 after five years of one-to-one tutoring across Primary, Secondary, and Junior College. He reads Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Nanyang Technological University, currently in his third year, with a GPA of 4.20 out of 5.00. His teaching covers Math and the Sciences end-to-end, from PSLE through A-Level H2 Math, plus Programming for school students and adult learners.
His approach is quiet and structured. Concept first, drill second, review until the gap is closed. He keeps his student list deliberately small so that every parent gets a tutor who actually remembers what their child did last week, and so that every lesson is built around the student in front of him rather than a standardised plan.
Outside of teaching, Allen has worked on mathematical modelling and data engineering at PhillipCapital and Adroit Investment Technologies. He brings the same rigour to a Primary 5 word problem as he does to a pricing model.
Math, Physics, and the Sciences from P1 to JC. Builds the conceptual map before the drill, so the topics start to connect.
Python, SQL, and R, for school competitions, AEPs, and adults pivoting into data work. Project-based by default.
Short notes after most lessons, with longer summaries before major exams. Specific topics, specific scores, no vague reassurance.
Zekun joined The Turing Laboratory in 2026 as our first associate tutor. He has been tutoring since 2022, with a specialty in Chinese that runs the full school arc, from PSLE oral and composition through to H1 Chinese at Junior College. He is effectively bilingual, comfortable switching between English and Mandarin in the same lesson, which matters because the home language for most Singaporean students today is English. Chinese, for many of them, lives mostly inside the classroom and the exam paper.
His teaching is closely aligned to the MOE syllabus for each level. What gets covered in his lessons is what gets marked in school, which means parents do not need to second-guess whether their child is being prepared for the right thing. He works one-to-one with the same calm, exam-aware style we apply across the lab.
Beyond Chinese, Zekun also takes Primary English and Math, and Lower Secondary Math, which makes him a natural fit for younger students whose families would rather have one tutor across two subjects than two tutors across one each.
Composition, comprehension, oral and spelling, plus the H1 General Paper-style argumentatitve writing at JC level. Calm and exam-oriented.
Switches naturally between English and Mandarin. Useful for students whose home language is mostly English, which is most of them in Singapore today.
Lesson content tracks closely to the MOE syllabus at each level, so school exams and tuition reinforce each other instead of pulling in different directions.
The lab is small on purpose. Two tutors, shared notes, shared standards, and a single voice when we write to a parent.
When a family writes in, our founder, Allen reads the request and assigns the lesson to whichever of us is the better fit for the subject mix and timing. There is no menu to pick from. We work it out so you do not have to.
Once a student is matched, they keep the same tutor for the duration. We do not rotate or substitute unless necessary. Continuity is half the reason small tuition works in the first place.
We share the same three-stage method, the same way of writing up progress notes, and the same honesty about what is and is not realistic in the time available. Whichever tutor you get, the experience is the lab's, not the individual's.
If your child takes, say, Math with Allen and Chinese with Zekun, your message will go to Allen first. After we coordinate between ourselves, you would receive Zekun's contact information if you have subjects taught by him so you are not running two parallel conversations at the start.
One message, with your child's level and the subjects you have in mind, is enough to start. We will match the right tutor and reply within 12 hours.
